What an exciting and action-packed start to the term it’s been! Our residential trip to Culmington Manor was a huge success! Children took part in a range of outdoor activities, showing great teamwork, resilience and courage. From abseiling to problem-solving challenges, everyone pushed themselves and supported each other brilliantly. Back in school, the children also learnt an important life skill - how to perform CPR. They showed real maturity as they practised the steps that could one day save a life.
In English, our focus has been on narrative writing, inspired by Michael Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom. The children have been developing their storytelling techniques, using powerful vocabulary, varied sentence structures and plenty of imagination to bring their writing to life. In SPaG lessons, we’ve been strengthening understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar, building the skills needed for clear and accurate writing. Meanwhile, in maths, we’ve focused on deepening knowledge of place value and practising the four operations through problem-solving and real-life challenges.
Swimming lessons have also been a highlight, with pupils improving their breaststroke, front crawl and backstroke, as well as mastering the push and glide technique. Their confidence in the water has grown week by week.
